The new Audi A8 has indicators that show the direction of the turn, which can significantly improve road safety. The flashing LED lights provide an optical signal that is unambiguous and quickly recognizable even from a distance or in poor visibility conditions. In the optimized headlights from the largest of the Audi models are 18 LEDs per strip in a side by side, divided into seven blocks. Into the tail of the Audi A8 W12 up to the A8 3.0 TDI enable each LED 24 in eight segments dynamised direction indicator.
Bulbs on the A8 literally a highlight
Flashing the A8, which blocks light up at an interval of 20 milliseconds after the other from the inside out in the desired direction. After 150 milliseconds, all segments are bright, they shine for another 250 milliseconds at full luminosity. Then the direction indicator of the Audi A8 goes out, the light game begins again. Nevertheless, an old idea with a modern twist: Sequential turn signals on the rear already offered the sporty and luxurious Mercury Cougar in the late 1960s.
Audi A8 in light groundbreaking
At the Audi A8, the matrix LED headlights can describe not only because of the clever Blinlichts as a pioneering innovation. 25 LEDs per headlamp produce a highly variable beam light. Sets the A8-board camera other vehicles permanently, blind the Audi Matrix LED headlights, the high beam in the affected areas from part by dimming individual diodes or completely disabled. In the other areas an extremely bright illumination remains. In addition, the Audi matrix LED headlights have a navigation-based light curve and the night vision assistant with a marker light for warning pedestrians and above.
