The Ford Mustang Ecoboost reaches 335 HP and incorporates elements of the GT with the High Performance package
Starting this same autumn, at least in the United States, the Ford Mustang Ecoboost will offer a High Performance package that increases the power of the four-cylinder engine and also adds elements of the Mustang GT Performance Package , such as brakes or tires.
This Ford Mustang High Performance Package 2020, available for coupe and convertible, takes the power of the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Ecoboost engine up to 335 hp and maximum torque to 475 Nm, making it the most powerful Ecoboost ever assembled in a Mustang, thanks to the Ford Performance division . Just in time for the model’s 55th anniversary.
The High Performance package, which was already available for the V8 or Mustang GT version, will now also be offered for the access variant, the four-cylinder Ecoboost. According to Ford, this makes the Mustang the most powerful four-cylinder sport among American manufacturers.
More power and many trinkets
The 2.3-liter Ecoboost block manufactured in Valencia receives from the hand of Ford Performance a twin-scroll turbocharger 5% larger (63 millimeters), a more generous radiator and a new calibration to be associated with the SelectShift 10-speed automatic transmission or the Getrag six-speed manual gearbox.
Ford says that this Ecoboost High Performance Package accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km / h . In addition, 90% of the maximum torque is available between 2,500 and 5,300 rpm. The soundtrack is in charge of an exhaust system conveniently tuned for the occasion.
To the independent suspension in both axes with MagneRide shock absorbers of the Mustang Ecoboost are added a bar of front turrets, front and rear stabilizer bars (32 and 24 mm thick respectively), or the brake equipment of the Mustang GT, composed of front discs of 353 millimeters and larger four-piston calipers.
Both electric power steering and ABS, stability control (ESP) or driving modes, receive a specific tuning with this package. Also added is a Torsen self-locking differential (3.55: 1) and 19-inch aluminum wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa4 summer tires in dimensions 255/40 R19.
Inside, it incorporates specific instrumentation with additional clocks (turbo and oil pressure) and a personalized commemorative plaque, in addition to the FordPass Connect system – standard on the Mustang 2020 – and, optionally, the SYNC3 system.
To finish, aesthetically this package includes a larger black front splitter, bass protection, darkened grille with Mustang logo on one side, mirrors in magnetic gray (matching the hood strips) or a rear spoiler on the trunk lid, also black.
