GM Shreveport plant going to close next summer
GM has confirmed that they will close the assembly plant of medium size pick-ups which is in Shreveport, Louisiana, regardless of the demand for vehicles that are manufactured there on the next year’s August. In this plant the Hummer H3 was made, which ceased production as you know, but today and until a few months is still manufacturing the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. This is the only plant to be closed under the last agreement between GM and the UAW.
The next Chevrolet Colorado will be made, as confirmed, and will be assembled at the plant in Wentzville, Missouri. The brand has not yet confirmed when the model will go into production but is expected to enter production lines at a time to cease its predecessor. They know more details of the proposed new Colorado at Los Angeles Auto Show.
