Renault Triber 2019: a new small SUV with up to 7 seats, exclusive for India
The French manufacturer Renault has presented today in India its latest product, a SUV of up to seven seats called Renault Triber that will be exclusive to the Asian market, will be produced locally in the city of Chennai (south of India) and it will be sold this year.
This model joins the Renault range for India, which includes the Renault Kwid , Captur and Duster (which is not sold under the Dacia brand), although the French firm has ensured that although the model has been developed for the Indian market , this Triber has “international ambitions”.
Despite not exceeding 4 meters in length – only 3.99 meters in length – this B-segment SUV offers a version with three rows of seats and seven seats . The two individual rear seats offer enough space even for adults, depending on the brand, and the seats in the second row are foldable, reclining and longitudinally adjustable.
Seven seats, one engine and up to 625 liters of luggage compartment
Precisely the modularity and the possibilities offered by the model are some of the most interesting qualities of Triber for Indian buyers, according to the manufacturer. In addition, all the rows have air diffusers and the roof bars can support up to 50 kilos of weight.
Although in seven-seat variant its trunk is reduced to only 84 liters capacity, and with five seats offers 320 liters, if that third row is omitted this SUV reaches a cargo volume of 625 liters , which according to Renault is a leading figure in its segment.
The interior has a simple design but has a digital instrument panel, multimedia system with 8-inch screen , browser and compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, seats upholstered in fabric and options such as access card and keyless start.
The Triber offers a ground clearance of 18 centimeters , something that surely will be liked by Indian drivers, especially taking into account the type of roads that will have to face the car. It also incorporates 4 airbags and three-point belts in all seats (with pretensioner in the case of the driver).
The only available engine for the new Renault Triber is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine, with 72 hp of power and a maximum torque of 96 Nm, enough to move the 947 kg of the vehicle. It will be offered, however, with a five-speed manual gearbox or a robotic manual box, which have not been detailed, as well as with 14 or 15-inch wheels .
